Some time in December: 5 AM. The night -- let's not delude ourselves with this AM, PM crap -- is quiet. The air is crisp, the snow fresh. Banks are three feet high. As I try to negotiate my way to the street, my arms flail wildly, my vain campaign to maintain verticality. The uncivilized state of the pavement is only partly to blame, as my mobility has been somewhat compromised; against the cold, I am wearing my coat, a hat, a scarf, a wool dress, leggings and tights, two pairs of socks, and the thickest boots I own. The coat eliminates every curve of my body. The hat makes me look like a serial killer. I am alone. I am ... zen. I am Sasquatch. As I mouth curses to myself, a truck comes by. As it trundles over many bumps and lumps in the snow, the headlights flicker in and out of the corner of my eye. The snow crunches wonderfully beneath its tires, delivering a delicious satisfaction. Sejak UM terkeluar dari senarai penarafan THES, maka pelbagai formula dan juga cadangan telah diberikan dan dibentangkan untuk menangani perkara ini. Walaupun UKM pernah mendahului UM pada tahun 2006, namun perkara ini tidak kekal lama. Oleh itu, dicadangkan diwujudkan Universiti Apex untuk mewujudkan universiti super yang mampu berdaya saing(mengikut kamus THES) di persada antarabangsa. Penulis merasakan penarafan memang perlu. Tanpa penarafan, kita tidak punya kayu ukur untuk menilai kekuatan universiti kita. Apatah lagi, kita tidak punya kayu ukur yang jelas di peringkat tempatan untuk menilai prestasi universiti Malaysia. Kita masih terumbang-ambing dalam paradigma universiti pengajaran untuk menghasilkan pekerja yang cemerlang di industri ataupun universiti penyelidikan yang menghasilkan kertas kerja ataupun paten yang terbilang di dalam bidang kesarjanaan masing-masing. Classes Will Start On June 9
My parents enrolled me and my sister yesterday. Of course. What shall I expect? I'll be at OL of Charity! But... I was ambivalent about this. And I knew why. I'll be sophomore this coming school year. New challenges. More surprises. And what more? New classmates. The OLOBian had a bad memory last school year. (Should I tell you about this?) No, I wouldn't go into details. But it's about a freakin' new student (Oops! I should be careful with some words!) with his eeky little deeds which caused a big big big trouble in our section! Oh. Nevermind. On the brighter side, more things will be greater than ever. (Pfft. How I hated my writing style.) The innovated school, some same old faces (Just kidding. Hi Addie Preand and Wreene Preand. Miss you! :D) and a lot more. Wow. I can't wait!
